You can now send disappearing photos and videos on WhatsApp with the view once feature

WhatsApp this week rolled out a new feature that lets you send disappearing photos and videos like Snapchat. It’s called ‘View Once’ and as the name suggests, this feature lets you view photos and videos only once after you receive them on WhatsApp.

It was first available for WhatsApp beta users, and it is now available to all users globally.

The new ‘View Once’ feature is available with the latest version of the WhatsApp app that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

Once your WhatsApp is updated to the latest version follow these steps to use the View Once feature. This feature will be enabled by default on WhatsApp, and you just need to know where to spot it.

Today I want to show one new WhatsApp features, how you can easily send disappearing photos and videos.

You can now send photos or videos to a user and allow that user to only view them once and then the photos or videos will disappear after being seen just once.

This feature we've seen before on Snapchat and then Instagram as well and finally it's here on WhatsApp in this tutorial I am going to show you how it works step by step.

  1. The first thing you need to do is update WhatsApp to the latest version, that's how you get the newest feature like this one.
  2. Open up your App store on your Apple iPhone if updating via the app store.
  3. Then you have to tap on your profile photo at the top right corner of your screen, if you don't have a profile on your app store, it will just be a blank image.
  4. On the next screen, you have to swipe down to refresh and look for new updates.
  5. After refreshing the page now scroll down and locate WhatsApp in the list of apps, if it's not there in the list of apps shown then it's because WhatsApp is already updated or there is no update for WhatsApp.
  6. So if it's already updated just keep scrolling to the list of updated apps and you will see WhatsApp confirm sure if it's already updated you can click on WhatsApp to see the version you have installed on your iPhone. The version you are supposed to be in to use this feature is at least 2.21.151 or above. The higher the version the more updated you are. So you have to exactly be on this version or above to use this feature.
  7. After the update, just proceed on opening the WhatsApp application you just updated.
  8. Try to send a video or a photo as you would normally do.
  9. Tap on the plus + button.
  10. Tap on photos and video library.
  11. Select the photo or video you want to send.
  12. After you’ve selected, look for the new 1 icon in the text bar.
  13. Tap on this icon and highlight it, when it is highlighted, the color will be blue.
  14. When this (1) icon is colored blue this means the view one feature is highlighted.
  15. Then send the photo or video.

After sending this photo or video please do note that All photos and videos sent in the View Once mode will disappear after they’ve been opened by the recipient.

WhatsApp will display a message saying “Opened” after the photo or video disappears from the chat. WhatsApp will also not store the media content on the phone if it’s sent using the View Once feature.

That's all on sending view once disappearing photos and videos on WhatsApp. So if some reasons after updating your WhatsApp and this feature doesn't work still, just wait for some time after upgrading, this is common, and you will surely get this feature after the update.
